Faculty Mentoring Program

The GREL has a strong track record of personalized mentoring of our graduate students. We approach mentoring holistically, advising students on their research, teaching, and on life beyond the PhD. Several GREL faculty in our program have participated in the Graduate Mentoring Initiative (GMI) run by Graduate Studies and Prof. Archana Venkatesan has also co-taught in the GMI, including a special session specifically tailored to faculty in the Arts and Humanities (Winter 2024). The GREL has also adopted mentoring guidelines, which can be found here. In addition, we encourage students to explore the resources available on the Mentoring Up program, which helps graduate students navigate their mentoring relationships with faculty. GradPathways is a comprehensive resource for Professional Development.

GREL faculty have also been recognized for their exceptional mentoring by the Office of Graduate Studies with the Graduate Program and Advising Awards.
